Khajuraho is famous for its “Kamasutra” temples and really its the only place where I saw eriotic carvings on temples. Its a really nice spot to stop for a day or two and see all of the temples in the area. Khajuraho has more temples than most places in India and most of them are very easy to get to.
You can visit the main temple site by walking to it from most places in town but to visit the other temples you should rent a bike. The area is really poor but very friendly. When I was riding my bike around town the other locals on bikes would wave to me and we would joke about how nice our bikes were. I even had one nice young guy follow me around to a few of temples because he wanted to chat and work on his english. Later we went separate ways he didn’t ask for anything just a friendly guy.
Khajuraho is a great place to see some temples and spend a day or two before moving on. There are also some great day trips you can take in the surrounding areas, talk to your hotel to ask about other things you can do.
