I booked a week in Dublin after my Paddy Wagon tour because I wanted to see the city. But after a day or two you realize that the city its self doesn’t have that much to offer. Yes there is the famous Temple Bar district and its crazy number of bars, and sure its got the Guinness Brewery. But if thats not your thing, you will realize that the city its self is just a modern city.
What really made my trip to Dublin special was the areas just out side the city. I took a day trip to the Wicklow mountains one day and the train out to Howth another. Both offered me what I was looking for and thought Dublin was missing. Away from the city you can find that sense of adventure and fresh local food your looking for. Wicklow was absolutely amazing and Howth offered me the freshest sea food you could find. I ate a whole little bucket of Dublin Bay prawns at the sea side there. So if you make it to Dublin try to stay sober enough to enjoy the areas around it.
